James D. Salter

James Salter is one of the firm’s founding partners and practices in the real estate department. He attended Emory University and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in History in 1958. He then attended Law School at the University of Florida, graduating with an LLB in 1961 (replaced with a Juris Doctor in 1967).
Mr. Salter has maintained an active law practice in Gainesville for more than 50 years where he focuses on commercial and residential real estate transactions, and real estate development. Mr. Salter is active in the local business and philanthropic community. He has served on the Santa Fe College Endowment Corporation since 1978 and is a member emeritus of the Board of Directors of Merchants & Southern Bank (now Ameris Bank).
Mr. Salter is also a member of the Business and Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Sections of The Florida Bar, and a member of the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association. Mr. Salter was born in Pensacola, Florida and presently resides in Gainesville with his wife, Lee Ann.
